The Best places to Celebrate Bonfire Night

Remember remember the fifth of November.....

Remember remember the fifth of November (but if you’re in Bristol the fourth, fifth, sixth… It’s a whole weekend of celebrations!)

Track down your picnic blankets, grab a flask of your favourite drink (it is basically Bailey’s Hot Chocolate season now so anything goes!) and drag yourselves away from the warmth of your room, your desk or the library to watch the absolute BEST Fireworks Bristol has to offer! Being notoriously hilly we are not short in Bristol of high places to watch firework displays from! This is both a great experience but there are also excellent options for those on a budget or who are not fans of crowded places. Remove yourself from your busy day to day and relax whether to immerse yourself in the celebrations or just to watch!

Places to Watch

Brandon Hill is a prime location to view a vast amount of Bristol and being in the centre is so easy to get to (apart from scaling Park Street of course!).

Clifton Downs is one of the highest points in the city and boasts excellent views! Grab a couple of drinks in the village to warm yourself and walk up to watch the city light up with fireworks galore!

Greville Smyth Park is in the south of Bristol, just alongside the river and at the base of Ashton Court, promising excellent views across to the suspension bridge and similarly across to Hotwells. Just a stones throw from bustling North Street grab a bite to eat from the Tobacco Factory (who have a new menu) and then make your way to the park to end your evening! Sounds like the perfect Bristol night!

The Traditional

Our top pick for a traditional stripped back Bonfire night is in Victoria Park, Bedminster on 5th November.  At a much loved event, there will be a judge the best ‘guy’ competition and a great big bonfire (with no fireworks) you can enjoy alongside several excellent food and drink stalls!

The Fairground

With both a kid’s display and an adults display the event this year at Downend, on Friday 3rd November, is one for all of the family. With local ales, ciders, candyfloss and sweet treats you can indulge yourself! They also have a designated SPARKLER zone!! As well as treating yourself all proceeds go to local charities; giving back to your local community what is not to love!

The Theatrical

For the more passionate fireworks enthusiast the ‘Fireworks to Music’ promises to be an amazing night on the 4th November. Held in the Avon Valley and Wildlife Park, this ticketed event promises a family favourite night with funfair rides to enjoy as well as the classic sweet treats. Remember your wellies!

The Unique

The Festival of Light brings communities together. With fireworks, bonfires, DJ’s and a performance from the Invisible Circus this free event (donations welcomed) is a Bristol renowned event run by the Bristol Trinity Centre and takes place in Old Market on 5th November.

Remember to come and grab a warming drink from us when you are passing- to celebrate Bonfire Night we are offering discounts off of our Autumn Menu as the Winter is around the corner!
